In Uruguay, mate is a symbol of friendship and it is something so ingrained that it is part of our oriental identity. ... This infusion prepared with yerba mate leaves is called mate (from Quechua «mati», which means glass or container to drink, in Portuguese chimarrão, «cimarrón»). Since the morning the mate accompanies the Uruguayan. Mate was used to be shared in round with friends but after the covid pandemic, each Uruguayan started to have their own Mate and drink it individually, becoming the soul mate that accompanies you every day everywhere. Here my hand-painted matte project is a work that no longer exists. The Mate were used to create totems and be exhibited together, then photographed, but then each one went on their own way, thus finding their soul mate.
